Hydrogen’s potential to advance Asia's decarbonization was explored during an ADBI virtual workshop on 25 November, held as part of the 8th Applied Energy Symposium on Low Carbon Cities & Urban Energy Systems. Researchers explained the importance of green hydrogen produced by renewable energy for the decarbonization of sectors such as transport, buildings, manufacturing, and power generation, and its impacts on large-scale variable renewable energy growth. They also discussed hydrogen cost, national hydrogen strategies, and the implications of a hydrogen future on supply chains, industries, and the region’s broader economic outlook. Researchers underscored the need to estimate and promote both green hydrogen production and demand.
